It%26#039;s a %26#039;75 Mercedes, so I really don%26#039;t want to go buying four new bulbs only to find that they weren%26#039;t the problem.
Why are my indicators blinking too fast?
the wrong wattage bulb will cause that
Why are my indicators blinking too fast?
more than likley you have a bad flasher
Reply:could be an indicator that a bulb is failing and will blow soon!

not an expert on cars but just buy one bulb, and replace the old bulbs one at a time, and see if the rapid flashing stops after changing each one! that way you%26#039;ll find the bad one!

or if you changed the bulbs the same time last time, maybe they are failing the same time! if that don%26#039;t work go to a garage and ask them to take a look at it as indicator lights flashing to fast is illegal! I had put %26quot;new%26quot; bulbs into my Camaro and with in 2 days the left bulb died. They just told me sometime bulbs do that. And the pnly other answer i can come up with is usually when they blink like that it means the bulbs are dying... sometimes the %26quot;idiot lights%26quot; dont reset correctly. If not let it sit a day or two in the sun, if you are lucky it will dry out and if does not show any improvement, you probably flooded it and might have totaled it. This happened to me a month ago, I opened the hood, took the air filter out and let it dry out for a day, then I tried it again and it worked.
I went through water in my car and now when I try to start it all that it does is clicks?
if your battery has 12 volts and the wires are tight at the starter have someone try starting it while you hit the starter with a hammer[not too hard]
Reply:Water on or in the starter motor. if you can get to it, spray wd 40 on the starter motor terminal.

If you%26#039;re a do-it-yourself kinda person, you could take the starter off, disassemble it and blow compressed air on all the parts to get it good %26amp; dry. I%26#039;ve never worked on that starter, but they%26#039;re all pretty much the same.

It%26#039;ll probably dry out eventually if left alone, but corrosion might set in, then it%26#039;s just a matter of time.
Reply:how deep was it? if it went down the air intake, then you prob have an hydraulic lock- remove sparkplugs and try to spin it over to clean out the water. If no spin, then get a socket and tool and try to turn the motor via the crankshaft front nut-if it won%26#039;t turn, you%26#039;ve prob seized/warped the motor. check the starter motor if it does freeup, if it%26#039;s old it may just need new brushes/a recon job. If for some reason you turned your wheel to far after you turned it off last, it sometimes wont allow you to start your car. I%26#039;ve done it to myself once and I had a hard time freeing it. It needs a new coolant resevoir, bc it leaks and there is also an oil leak into the 3rd cylinder (I don%26#039;t really know what that means, mechanic tells me this). I am planning on selling the car as is, but I am disclosing all this info and hoping to figure out how much these repairs would cost a) from a mechanic and B) just parts to do it yourself. Just trying to set a fair price for selling it as is! Thanks, where I live this car in good working condition goes for about $2000-2500.
I am selling my car and have some repair questions?
well excluding the leak in the cylender...you looking at around 500 in parts for the brakes, rotors, bearings, and resevoir. at a shop, i have no idea. i do most of my own work.

If your being fair 1000-1500 would be fair, only if the tires are in good shape.
I am selling my car and have some repair questions?
Your price sounds very fair.
Reply:With the problems you have mentioned you might only be able to get $1000-1500 for the car. Sunfire/Cavalier were both very cheap built cars, designed to give the consumer the option to buy new under $10 000. If the oil is getting into the cylinder because of blown oil rings on #3 cylinder, the engine could very well be about to go.

Brakes and bearings won%26#039;t run a do-it-yourselfer a whole lot more than $600-700, coolant reservoir is really not a huge thing either.. but that oil leak in #3 cylinder could make or break the sale. It would also help to get a compression test done on the car.

Listing the mileage/condition of body and tires would be a great help determining the value.

Whats this car worth????

My dad bought a 1979 Camaro last summer as project. Please help?
the cover is only for looks or if you have a curious kid that likes to touch hot bulbs
LED Bulb breaking question. Please help?
well LED%26#039;s are known for producing basically 0 heat. So i don%26#039;t think your gonna have a problem with it. The LED%26#039;s in my car don%26#039;t have any glass over it (it came that way) and i%26#039;ve never had a problem with them. The glass is just to spread out the light probably. I Left one of my LED%26#039;s on all night (8+ hrs) by accident once and touched it - no heat. So i highly doubt your gonna be posing any sort of fire hazard with an LED. Do you have to find the hole? or doe sit help you find the hole or what is causing the air leak? Or do you just spray it on the flat? Thanks for everyone who answers. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31...
Has anyone used flat tire fixer for flat tires?
you put it in the same place you put air in a tire. it plugs the hole temporairly till you can get it fixed...just let them know where ever you get it fixed that you used the stuff cause it is flammable
Has anyone used flat tire fixer for flat tires?
Just to get to where i can get to change the tire. I would not use the stuff again. If it is more than a nail whole it will not work. You just put it in through the valve stem and drive to put more air in. May last a little bit or just a couple miles. I would rather keep a plug kit and a small compressor. Your tire man will hate you for putting this in your tire. It might get you off the side of the road though. If not on the side of the road i would not use it.

rd
Reply:I have used it and it repaired leaks permanantly and I%26#039;ve also used it where it didn%26#039;t fix the problem at all. Sometimes it%26#039;s just cheaper to go to a used tire place. You can get one for $15 plus mounting and balancing. You don%26#039;t HAVE to replace the stem regardless of what they say.
Reply:I have tried on a few tires, found only once that the garbage actually worked. Last time was on Saturday evening for a nail hole. I put the garbage in and went to a air pump station and starte filling the tire with air, it did not even hold up to make the 2.5 mile drive back home.

I will NEVER use nor ever recommend this junk to anyone.

I have used tire repair plugs before and for 9 out of 10 times they do well and fix the leaks. I realized when it hit 100 degrees outside that the AC doesnt work. When I looked under the hood I found that the refrigerant lines end about a foot from the radiator where it should be connected to a part. I dont think the condenser itself is missing, I think that is in front of the radiator while this is behind it. Anyone know what part i am missing?
What is missing from the air conditioning system in 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS that connects to the condenser?
When you say the lines end before the radiator, I can only assume where they are coming from. Going against many a warning, assume I will...

fter leaving the compressor the high side line should go directly to the condenser. From there a receiver/dryer is usually present before the orifice tube. This tube is where the low side begins and continues to the evaporator in the dash. Exiting the dash and returning to compressor is the end.

Each of these components will have connections and its hard to tell you exactly what is missing without more information.

Also, you should be able to see connections for the condenser (I%26#039;m not saying they%26#039;re not hard to find) if it is present.

Trying to find out why my lights, wipers, radio don't work when it rains without even driving my 2003 Grand Car.

This is a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan.
Trying to find out why my lights, wipers, radio don%26#039;t work when it rains without even driving my 2003 Grand Car.
something may be getting wet.....oh yeah....check the fuse.....

Car is running rough-1996 Dodge Avenger V6?

I can bearly take off from a red light. It creates more drag on the vehicle. It was proven on Mythbusters.
Do you waste more gas running your ac while driven or with the windows down?
Highway... run the ac... you get more drag from having your windows down at that speed.

in town.... roll down the windows.
Reply:http://www.associatedcontent.com/article...
Reply:I saw this on myth busters... the proved that if your driving on the highway you wasting more gas with the windows down. but they did it on a race track so im not sure about street traffic.
Reply:If it is climate control yes you will as it will continue to try and get the desired temperature. If its an older car without climate control it probably wouldnt make any difference.
Reply:much will depend on how fast ur going, too fast, and the window drag become greater, too slow and the compressor drag becomes greater. either way, you use more fuel than windows up and compressor off.
Reply:For best MPG

HWY : AC ON - window closed

Street: AC OFF - window open or closed

===

Forget all those %26quot;SAVE GAS%26quot; scams. This was on NBC morning TV show. The difference is as much as 38% (their claim). There are very simple rules to save gas:

(1) drive slow - not too much past 55

(2) accelerate slowly

(3) don%26#039;t brake unnecessarily

(4) use cruise control - whenever it is safe to do so.

Don%26#039;t coast - it is NOT safe and it does NOT save gas.

The above really works. Using those simple rules I was able to drive from Boston to NYC (210.5 miles) on just 5.112 gallon (94 Civic). That%26#039;s 41 MPG (94 Civic 187K miles). Actually I was speeding at 72 MPH so I could do even better at 55.

WOW !!

Good Luck...

Keys in ignition won't come out!?

i have a nissan pathfinder and i started the car, then the car jumped forward and i was scared so i turned the car off, only the key would not come out of the igntion

how do i get it out?!
Keys in ignition won%26#039;t come out!?
make sure it is in park
Keys in ignition won%26#039;t come out!?
Make sure the car is in park. There is no way to unfasten this component with the engine still bolted to the transmission.
I have a rebu crank to install in a 98 3.8 V6. Is it possible to change it without pulling the transmission?
the fly wheel is bolted to the crank, so yes you have to pull the trans or the engine
Reply:you%26#039;ll have to separate the motor and tranny, and be able to remove the flywheel. (1) something stuck in the rail. (2) your rail is rusted or just stuck.

Look under the seat with a flashlight and see if you can find any thing foreign (like coins, etc.). Also nobody has really seen the long term effects of it, maybe your car has had it for 3 years, but who knows how other cars would hold up to it.
Why do people doubt acetone works wheni have done it for 3 years?
People say it works. But most people don%26#039;t know how to accurately measure their MPG. Getting a round figure is not good enough (at least in my opinion). So can you tell us if you measured it ACCURATELY.

If you want to accurately measure you MPG, do these steps:

(1) fill you tank to the max

(2) reset the odometer (tripometer)

(3) drive on the HWY (at 55 for comparison to other cars)

(4) drive using cruise control - to eliminate bad habit (VERY IMPORTANT)

(5) drive about 30 minute / 30 miles (longer = more accurate)

(6) now get gas again - fill it the MAX

(7) note the gallon just filled AND mile drive.

(8) calculate MPG = miles / gallon

You cannot use your GAS gauge to know if you finished using the gas. Also if you don%26#039;t use the cruise you are putting in your driving habit, traffic, etc. on different days as variable. So you should do this at evening or night hours.

You can also use this technique whenever you think your car is gets better or worst MPG. It only cost you about 1 gallon of gas ($4) and that is cheaper than paying a mechanic to find ghosts (problems that doesn%26#039;t exists).

Good Luck...
Reply:You run your car on ACETONE??

wtf
Reply:if acetone has similar or better calories/$ than petrol, then I guess you might be justified, but heaven knows what pollution your making, and sourcing the necessary acetone is prob quite hard, unless you%26#039;re in the %26quot;know%26quot;. Anyone have any more difinitive ideas?
Why does my car shake, vibrate, sometimes stall as I accelerate?
Sounds like it may be out of time. Have you had the timing belt changed ??
Why does my car shake, vibrate, sometimes stall as I accelerate?
Have a mechanic check for a head or head gasket problem. If you want to try to check it yourself begin by taking radiator cap off and allowing vehicle run until it reaches operating temp while watching coolant do you see bubbles in the coolant? Another way is to pressure check the coolant system to check for pressure drop if their is an abnormal pressure drop than you could have an internal leak from a head or head gasket. It could also be the converter or the tuneup like you stated. You could have one problem or several problems. I don%26#039;t know the history of your vehicle so I could be way off base but I am stabbing in the dark without actually having the vehicle in front of me.Also did you do the plugs because of this problem?
Reply:It is due to wrong firing timing of engine. Show the vehicle to an auto electrician who will adjust the timing

What will they check when I take my car in to be inspected?

I live in Utah and I just want to make sure I%26#039;ve got everything taken care of before I take it in so I can get it registered immediately after. We just got the windshield replaced and the brakes fixed. What else should I be checking?
What will they check when I take my car in to be inspected?
Generally they will check the VIN number, emissions systems (Either through a 5-gas analysis or visual inspection), hazard, turn, backup, and head lights. Running codes on an OBD-II vehicle (1996 and later), and the general safe condition of the vehicle.

Sometimes, but not always, they will verify engine displacement, Usually by comparing a part number to the VIN number.
